Bad weather leads to more accidents

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash.-- Heavy snowfall in Kittitas County made it dangerous for drivers Monday.

The Washington State Patrol says they saw a big spike in the amount of accidents just east of Snoqualmie Pass.

Troopers say from 4-10am they received 13 reports of accidents, none of them serious, but  that's a lot more than the one or two they normally see.

"Plan extra time for your trip and slow down when conditions warrant it. If it's wet or snow, or anything like that, that reduces your ability to have traction, people need to slow down," said Trooper Darren Wright.

Trooper Wright says posted speed limits are for when there are dry conditions, not during bad weather.
