YAKIMA, Wash. - West Valley volleyball student-athletes returned to class today as champions. The Rams won another state title, this time in the 2-A. In the semi-finals, the Rams finally beat an undefeated Selah team, two hours later West Valley regrouped to beat another undefeated Tumwater squad. Head Coach Katie Hinckley says her team did a great job switching quickly from one top team to another.
"It's pretty easy to focus when you know that a state championship is on the line there. So, I don't think it was that difficult for our girls to get pumped up, after beating Selah, to go and fight for that trophy," said Katie Hinckley, West Valley Head Coach.
"This was our goal the entire season, is to bring home another state championship. It wasn't good enough for us to make it all the was to the championship and then just get second. So I think when we realized that 'we have to come focused or we're not going to win' I think it got us really motivated and focused," said Julia Nathe, senior setter.
