Blue Bridge two lane closures over but there's still more work to do

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash.-- The southbound lanes of the Blue Bridge reopened to traffic this morning, a full day ahead of schedule.

The Department of Transportation says there will be no more multiple lane closures, but there's still work left to be done.

We're not quite free and clear yet when it comes to Blue Bridge lane closures. If you drive across the bridge after dark Tuesday night you'll find one southbound lane closed.

The Department of Transportation  said that because of the complications crews found as they were working on the north-bound lanes, they wanted to make sure they had plenty of time to get the joint replacements completed in the southbound lanes.

"Contractor knowing what they will be facing, a lot better planning, they were more prepared, more man power and they got the work done."

The single lane closure in the southbound lanes starts Tuesday night at 8pm, and lasts until 5:30am and will happen every night through Monday.

The DOT also has plans to expand US 12 to four lanes between Pasco and Walla Walla, but they don't have enough funding right now to start that project.
