KENNEWICK, Wash. - The ninth annual Turkey Trot is next week. But today is the last day for early and cheaper registration.
Every year thousands of people enter the Thanksgiving Day race. The Turkey Trot raises money for the Benton Franklin Fed Cross to support several of their local programs.
Organizers are especially excited that sponsor, "Washington River Protection Solutions," is providing new race chips this year.
"We have chip timings, get a computer chip that you will tie into your shoes and it will give you a real accurate time, we will have race results right away" said Race Director, Peter Turping.
Early registration ends today and the cost is 15 dollars for the 1 mile run and 20 dollars for the 5-k.
On race day check-in and registration starts at 7:30 a.m. with the races starting at 9 a.m. at the Columbia Park Trail in Kennewick.
