Kennewick biker riding across the country for Wounded Warriors Project

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A local biking enthusiast is turning his passion into action by riding across the country for a good cause.

Alex LaVoie will ride from St. Augustine, Florida to Seattle over the course of four months. He's raising money for the Wounded Warriors Project that helps injured soldiers returning from war. Alex retired from his plumbing job Friday and he isn't wasting any time doing his part to give back.

"You've got to give to the people that help us to be here to live a life of freedom here in the United States. This is my way of doing it," LaVoie said.

He and his wife are leaving Monday for Florida where he will train for the next few months. He'll start his trip in February. He hopes locals will join him when he passes through Kennewick in June.

You can donate to the cause by going to www.joinalex.com. You can also follow a blog of his travels on this website.
