Boise State Probably Dizzy With More Changes in Big East

The conference realignment carousel just keeps on turning like that big wheel in the sky (see what I did there?). Boise State has to be feeling dizzy right about now.

If you missed the news, Maryland has decided to leave the Atlantic Coast Conference for the Big 10. On Tuesday, it is expected that Rutgers will leave the Big East and also head for the Big 10.

Sound familiar, Boise State? Oh yes, it does. The last time Boise State, which is set to join the Big East next season, jumped conferences it moved from the WAC to the Mountain West. Shortly after joining, BSU watched BYU, TCU and Utah jump ship. Now they could see Connecticut and Louisville also leave; they are said to be top candidates for the ACC. Or Louisville could go to the Big 12.

Whatever happens, it doesn't look good for the Big East. They don't look so big anymore – not to the rest of college football and certainly not to Boise State if things happen they way it look like it could happen.

The Big East will undoubtedly try to shore things up by adding new teams. But who? Do they continue to shop westward by trying to add the likes of BYU, who remains an independent at this point? Who else? WAC teams? Idaho?

The wheel in the sky – er – college football keeps changing my friends. It is bound to be quite a journey.
