OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Washington State Employment Security Department has released the jobless rates for October, broken down by county.
In our region, Walla Walla County had 5.9% unemployment, Franklin County had 7.8%, Benton County had 7.8%, Yakima County had 7.6%, Grant County had 7.4%, Kittitas County had 6.9%, Adams County had 6.5%, and Columbia County had 9.1%.
The county with the highest unemployment rate was Wahkiakum County, (on the west coast) with 11.7% unemployment.
Comparatively, the preliminary statewide unemployment rate was 8.2%, seasonally adjusted, or 7.2% not seasonally adjusted.
The county unemployment rates are too small to be seasonally adjusted.
