YAKIMA, Wash.-- The Union Gospel Mission is giving out free meals for Thanksgiving Wednesday and Thursday.
It's a yearly tradition for all missions around the country including the ones in Yakima and the Tri-Cities.
The Yakima mission says they've seen their need increase over the past few years.
They expect about 400 to 600 people to show up this year, compared to just a few years ago when it was 300 to 500.
"This is kind of a... It's a neat time for people that have to be away from their homes. To be at a place where somebody shows some appreciation for who they are and it means a lot to the folks that are here," says Yakima Union Gospel Mission Director Rick Phillips.
The mission in Yakima is serving a lunch Wednesday at 1 pm and Thursday at 1 pm at 1300 North First Street.
The Tri-City Union Gospel Mission is holding two dinners; one is going at 4 pm Wednesday. The other is Thursday from 2 to 4 pm.
That's happening at the Pasco mission at 112 North Second Avenue.
