Project HELP looking for donations

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- With people relying more on their heating systems as winter rolls in, some might have problems paying their electricity bills.

However, there is help for those in need. Pacific Power's "Project HELP" program lets customers in Yakima and Walla Walla donate money along with their energy bills.

The donations then go to local organizations like the Salvation Army in Yakima to help pay for electricity that month.

"It's definitely a time that people come to us with the most need for power bills, and when there's children in the household, of course, you know, they need heat," says Lisa Sargent with the Salvation Army.

If you want to donate, you can write a separate check to project help and send it in with your power bill.

You can also choose a fixed donation, which is included as part of your monthly bill.

To learn more about the program, you can visit Pacific Power's website, here.
