Local car club gives away free clothing

Posted: Updated:

Yakima, WASH.--During the holidays, a number of individuals and organizations reach out to those in need by feeding them a hot meal. But one group said keeping warm is just as important as getting fed.

The Azteca's Car Club has a table set up on the 3500 block of Main Street in Union Gap. They're handing out warm clothing until 7 p.m. Saturday.

President of Azteca's Car Club, Enrique Lopez, said sometimes the group gets a bad reputation because of the cars their members choose to drive. But they want people to know they're always trying to help improve the community.

"We're trying to help out, say look we're not that negative person you think that we are," said Lopez. "We're positive people. We're good people. We're just like everybody else."

The club is also giving out free hot dogs, hot chocolate and coffee. This is the Fifth Chapter of the Azteca's Car Club, and they're a little over 1-year-old in Washington.
