Southridge High School Food Drive Campaign

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Students at Southridge High School say together they can help feed the hungry in our community.

The school's DECA and FCCLA clubs are teaming up to collect canned food or donations this week for second harvest.

Their campaign slogan is "One For One."

Each homeroom in the school is encouraged to donate at least one can or $1 for every student.

And with over 1,400 students, DECA Advisor Julie McInturff said they are hoping to collect just as much, if not more, canned food.

"It's really important for our students to reach out beyond our immediate school and not only do that but reach out to a service that helps some of our own students and to be able to see that everything that they do no matter if its one can or one dollar helps make the difference for the community," McInturff said.

The student clubs will be going classroom to classroom on Friday collecting all the cans. They will deliver all the food to the KNDU/KNDO Family Food drive on Saturday morning.
