Idaho Teacher Investigated For Locking Kid In Room

CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) - A kindergarten teacher in the southwestern Idaho city of Caldwell is being investigated after a parent says she locked a 5-year-old boy in a dark room and forgot him there.

James Cagle reports that he and his wife panicked Wednesday when their son Tanner didn't come home from school. They searched Washington Elementary and found Tanner locked inside a small room used for tutoring. The lights were off and the boy was crying. Cagle said he'd been locked there for an hour and a half, apparently because the teacher wanted to discipline him and then forgot.

Superintendent Tim Rosandick says using the room for discipline is not a preferred practice, and that appropriate actions have been taken, but he can't discuss personnel issues.
