YAKIMA, Wash.-- It's official: the Cougars won the Apple Cup and Yakima Rotary's "U Rule Yakima" fundraiser, which ended last week.
Crews from the city of Yakima painted Cougar colors down the middle of Yakima Avenue and Cougar flags are now flying all over town.
As part of the online fundraiser, fans could donate 20 dollars to the Rotary online and cast a vote for the Cougars or the Huskies.
The Rotary Club says turnout wasn't as good as they hoped but it's a solid start for their first year.
"I think now it's going to be actually tangible when you see the flags up on the buildings and you see the flags all the way down Yakima Avenue, it's gonna be really fun and I think it puts a little bit more of a face on it," said Yakima Rotary President David Hargreaves.
The decorations will stay up until the end of the week. All the money donated goes to the Rotary's charitable fund.
