Spokane Shock Press Release:
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Shock have been assigned Paul Stephens and Bryant Nnabuife to the 2013 roster.
Stephens returns to Spokane for the 2013 season after spending his rookie season as a member of the Shock. As a rookie in 2012, Stephens played a pivotal role in the defensive secondary on his way to recording 57 tackles, 9 pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries, and three interceptions.
"Stephens came to us last year on a tryout and ended up starting 15 games for us. That's pretty incredible for a rookie and it tells you a lot about Paul's character. His ability in the return game also gives the special teams another option off the net," said Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden.
Nnabuife, a product of the Cal Golden Bears, re-joins the Shock roster for the 2013 season after being signed by Spokane originally in the 2012 season before spending time in the CFL's BC Lion's training camp. Over his collegiate career at Cal, Nnabuife played in 29 games and started five of those contests on his way to recording 59 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, one interception, and two touchdowns.
"Bryant is a tremendous athlete for such a long defensive back. We were excited to work with him last year, but we got him to the CFL. That shows his level of talent and we're glad to have him," said Shock General Manager Ryan Rigmaiden.
