YAKIMA, Wash. - On Wednesday, December 5th, the group PETA, (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) will protest in Yakima.
PETA members will be downtown, carrying signs that read "Plucked Alive," accompanied by an activist dressed as a half-plucked goose.
Members say they're protesting shoppers who buy jackets, gloves, pillows, or comforters filled with down.
PETA representatives say they're trying to raise awareness of the "hideous suffering of birds who are often repeatedly-and painfully-plucked alive for their feathers." PETA says instead, shoppers can buy synthetic down, down alternative, polyester fill, or high-tech fabrics such as Primaloft® and thinsulate™-soft, washable, down-like fibers.
Protestors will be at the intersection of East Yakima Avenue and South Front Street in downtown Yakima on Wednesday, December 5th at 12, noon.
