RICHLAND, Wash., -- More than 250 Richland High School students gave blood Tuesday morning.
It's one of the largest single-day blood drives in the region this year.
The Red Cross estimates that donated blood will help save more than 650 lives. All of the collected blood will be used regionally before the new year.
Our Red Cross region includes Southeastern Washington, Yakima, Wenatchee and Portland.
"We're constantly cycling out our supply," said Levi Martin of the Red Cross. "We generally keep about a 3-day supply and if we weren't collecting every day we would run out really quickly."
