TACOMA, Wash. -The Tacoma City Council has cut more than 200
jobs.
The council's new $397
million budget also closes a fire station at the port, cuts library hours and
leaves non-essential street repairs unfixed.
Drivers will have to pay $20 more
for vehicle license tabs.
Under the two-year spending plan, about 100 city workers will retire, the
city will lay off about 70, and about 50 vacant positions will vanish.
