KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Kennewick police department took on Kennewick fire department. The annual competition goes a long way toward helping local families this holiday season. All of the donations collected go back into the community. Both sides looked sharp in the Kennewick High School gym. It was great back and forth action. In the end the Kennewick police came away with the bragging rights, winning 45-42.
"I think the best thing about the event is actually the rivalry that they have. The police versus the fire. As you can tell by all the people that come, they love the pop shoot. Kids take a shot. If they make it, they get pop. If they don't they get something from Dairy Queen. Santa Claus comes, hands candy canes out to the kids. The best part about the whole event is you help needy families," Kennewick police officer Becca Jones said.
