WEATHER ALERT: Snowy Mountain Passes

Posted: Updated:

SEATTLE – The snow plows are rolling on the Cascades roadways as forecasters expect another 10 to 20 inches of snow to fall on top of the one to two feet of snow that has fallen in the last two days.

The Department of Transportation has lifted the mandatory chain requirement on all vehicles on Interstate 90 at Snoqualmie Pass. The DOT now recommends traction tires for Snoqualmie Pass, as well as for Stephens and White passes.

With colder temperatures in Eastern Washington, the Weather Service says some snow will likely accumulate Friday on lower elevations in the eastern third of the state, including Spokane.

Forecasters expect drier conditions Saturday.
