Marine Corps continues to collect toys

Posted: Updated:

Union Gap, WASH.--Members of the United State Marine Corps were out in Union Gap Saturday collecting toys for children in need.

It's getting close to end of the three month drive for "Toys for Tots."

Captain Jared Rains said they'll have somewhere between 5,000 to 6,000 toys to distribute this year, which is a higher number from years past.

All of the toys will be handed out to children in the community on December 19th.

"So many times when we're deployed, we get so many care packages and support from people we don't even know back here in Yakima, and this is a way for us to give back to those people," said Captain Rains.

On Saturday, the Marine Corps brought one of their tanks to Splash Express Car Wash in Union Gap. Splash Express also gave $3 for every car wash purchased with a donated toy.
