Police Arrest Man from Kennewick After Attempt to Elude Officers
RICHLAND, Wash. - A man from Kennewick is facing stolen property and drug charges after he lead police in a chase.
On Sunday afternoon, Richland Police tried to pull over a car for a burned out break light, but the car drove off. Officers say the chase then continued toward the Columbia Park Marina in Richland, where 25-year-old Dexter Wallace got out and ran off.
Police detained two other people who stayed in the car, who told them who Wallace was.
Benton County Sheriff's Deputies and Pasco Police went to the scene to help look for him and set up a perimeter, and a Pasco K9 unit found him hiding under a tree near the river.
When police searched the car, officers say they found Methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia, along with multiple stolen items for a Kennewick burglary.
Police aren't sure yet if the car was stolen, but they confiscated it for further investigation.
Police arrested and booked Wallace into the Benton County Jail for driving with a suspended driver's license, eluding police, possession of Methamphetamine, possession of stolen property, and on multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.
