SUNNYSIDE, Wash. - A man from Sunnyside is facing DUI charges after police say he crashed his car into a home.
Early Tuesday morning around 3:15, Sunnyside Police and Firefighters went to the 1300 block of South Street, after a homeowner called 911 saying a car had crashed into his house. Police say the homeowner also said the driver was trying to leave the scene.
When officers arrived, they say they found the car partially embedded in the garage, with the home's entire front wall collapsed.
Police say 20-year-old Jorge Luis Pacheco had been drinking when he failed to stop at an intersection and tried to turn left too quickly, and crashed into the home. Paramedics treated him at the scene. Officers arrested and booked him for a DUI and for illegally possessing marijuana.
Officers estimate the damages to the home between $20,000 and $40,000.
