KENNEWICK, Wash. - Ruth Livingston Elementary School became the first to surpass 1,000 donated coats in the annual KNDU Coats for Kids School Challenge sponsored by Kadlec Regional Medical Center.
The Pasco school collected 1,013 coats to go to families in the Mid Columbia this winter.
Finishing second in the school challenge was White Bluffs Elementary with 551, Desert Hills Middle School with 451, and Badger Mountain Elementary with 220.
All told, the school challenge netted 3,123 coats for the Salvation Army. For their efforts, Ruth Livingston's PTA earns a $500 donation from Kadlec, while all schools with more than 100 donated coats receive $200.
