UPDATE: KENNEWICK, Wash.- Police say an 84-year-old Pasco man was driving west on Clearwater, when his truck's gas pedal got stuck.
From that point, the driver says he lost control, went up on the sidewalk and hit a parked car and pole. The truck continued on after that and hit a 60-year-old Kennewick man who was standing in the parking lot.
The impact threw the victim into the driveway between Win-Co and the Big Smoke Shop.
Police say the victim was dead at the scene.
Officers say the elderly driver was taken to Kennewick General Hospital to be checked out and is cooperating with investigators.
Police say the driver has also agreed to a voluntary blood test as part of the investigation.
The victim's name has not been released and no charges have been filed at this time.
Meanwhile, about 15 minutes later, another unrelated accident happened on Clearwater about three blocks away.
Police say 32-year-old Cayiah Ramble from Kennewick was driving westbound on Clearwater when she turned left into a parking lot to make a U-turn.
Officers say Ramble hit 54-year-old Deborah Fox on her bicycle, as she was leaving the parking lot.
Police say Fox was riding her bike in the street against traffic at the time of the accident.
She was taken to Kennewick General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
KENNEWICK, Wash. - Police say an elderly man in his 80's was driving the pickup truck in this morning's fatal accident on the 4400 block of West Clearwater Avenue.
The driver told police his accelerator was stuck. From that point, he says he lost control, went up on the sidewalk and hit a parked car and a pole. The truck then continued through a parking lot and hit a man.
Investigators are not releasing any names at this time.
Police have released the names of the two people involved in the second, unrelated accident this morning on Clearwater.
22-year-old Cayiah Ramble was driving a pickup westbound when she pulled into a business parking lot to turn around. When she made a right turn back onto Clearwater, she hit 54-year-old Deborah Fox on a bicycle.
Police say Fox was riding in the road against traffic. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Ramble told police she did not see the bicyclist.
KENNEWICK, Wash. - A woman is in the hospital after being hit by a truck about 10:30 this morning while riding her bicycle. A witness told us the truck hit her while she was crossing Clearwater Avenue at the 4000 block in front of Les Schwab. The witness says the woman was pinned underneath the truck and dragged for a block.
She was immediately rushed to the hospital. Her condition is unknown.
This happened just down the street from the fatal accident involving a car and a pedestrian about a half hour earlier.
KENNEWICK, Wash. - A person was hit by a car and killed a little after 10 this morning in Kennewick.
Reports are that it was a man in his fifties.
He was hit between Big Smokes and Winco near the corner of Clearwater Avenue and Union Street.
There are also reports of a woman being hit by a truck nearby in a separate accident.
