SPOKANE, Wash. -

If you talk to the higher-ups at the best college basketball programs in the country, you will hear them talking about bringing the BCS football model to the college hardwood. So says Gonzaga coach Mark Few, as programs across the country view the changing landscape of college sports. And that necessarily will bring about a shift in conference alignments.

Speaking on the Mark Few Show this week, Few said college basketball could look quite different than it has for the past several decades.

"It's interesting – it's interesting times right now," said Few.

The movement sparking all the change is directly related to college football, and most notably how the Big East has all but disintegrated. CBS Sports reported this week that seven non-football members of the conference are looking to split away from the conference and form a basketball-centric conference. Those programs include DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova. They could look for three to five programs to add to the mix, including, some say, Gonzaga.

"It would be naïve and ignorant on our part to sit here and think that it's not going to affect us," said Few. "So we have to be ready to do what's best for Gonzaga."
