SPOKANE, Wash. -

One of Gonzaga's best attributes is the consistency of the program over the years. But one thing that is up in the air is whether the Bulldogs will remain in the West Coast Conference.

School officials haven't said one way or the other what they plan to do now that seven programs have left the Big East.

Gonzaga coach Mark Few said once more that he is happy with the WCC. In the end, however, Gonzaga must do what is best for Gonzaga.

"We're happy with where we're at but we're going to continue to monitor everything that's going on," said Few. "We build ourselves into a national program and we're going to do what's best for Gonzaga through all this. Because of our success we put ourselves in a position to where we're attractive to other entities out there. But again, we're going to do what's best for Gonzaga."

The seven basketball schools that broke away from the Big East do not as of Tuesday have a name for themselves. And they won't leave the conference until 2015 as per conference bylaws – unless they pony up and pay large exit fees.

Other programs rumored to be candidates to join the new league include Gonzaga, but also schools like Creighton, Butler St. Louis, Dayton, St. Joseph's, Richmond and the Zags' fellow WCC partner, Saint Mary's.
