YAKIMA, Wash.-- Firefighters in Yakima had to rush to put out a house fire this morning on Englewood Avenue.
Crews responded to the 5300 block of Englewood around six this morning. The homeowner had woken up and smelled smoke and found a light fixture smoldering.
Firefighters put the fire out quickly. They say the fixture had overheated.
"Light fixtures are a very common problem for us and I don't thing that it's anything particular with the season, that we see them all times of the year," said Yakima Fire Battalion Chief Mitch Cole.
Fire crews had to pull out part of the ceiling to put out any embers in the insulation. No one was injured.
Firefighters blocked off Englewood between 53rd and 56th Avenues while they dealt with the fire.
