RICHLAND, Wash. - The Mayan's 'end of the world' prediction sparked several rumors of violence happening Friday at local schools.
NBC Right Now followed up with school administrators and found that despite the rumors it was pretty much business as usual Friday.
Business as usual, or not, police and the school districts take threats, of any kind, very seriously.
The majority of the local Doomsday rumors were centered around Richland High School. Richland Police made their presence more visible there but there were no problems and no new threats reported.
The school district says it's a learning experience, regardless.
"We always review our safety standards and we'll review our safety committee and the police department and the fire department and see if we learned anything from this or if we need to do anything different or not," said Todd Baddley of the Richland School District.
The Pasco School District reported no problems Friday, either, despite the same rumors there. Kennewick Schools are already on holiday break.
