RICHLAND, Wash. - NBC Right Now continues to follow the investigation of Richland School's Superintendent Jim Busey.
Busey was placed on paid administrative leave earlier this month following reports of an 'inapropriate relationship' with a school district staffer.
On Wednesday, Busey sent a 'retirement notification' to the school district which is effective on June 30th, 2015.
"Well one of the things I wanted to be able to do was to share publicly my intent to fulfill my contract to the best of my ability. I have two and a half years left on my contract and I would like the opportunity to do that," Busey said.
Busey said the board gave him an ultimatum to sign draft documents for his resignation by 1PM on December 26th but he refused.
