KENNEWICK, Wash. - State Senator Jerome Delvin was sworn in Thursday to his new position as Benton County Commissioner.
Today's swearing in ceremony took place at the Benton County Justice Center with several county officials and justices on hand.
Delvin's wife, Benton County Clerk Josie Delvin, administered the oath of office.
"Having my wife swear me in, that was pretty neat and pretty important. We've been married 15 years and she said she'd never get into politics, and when she said 'you know, I'm thinking about running for office.' I said, 'well, good for you.' So, you know, certainly we both understand politics now," Delvin said.
Delvin defeated Rick Jansons in the November election and will replace long-time commissioner Leo Bowman who announced his retirement last spring.
