Walmart Donates Thousands of Pounds of Food to 2nd Harvest

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Walmart is a big contributor to local food banks. In fact, they give 2nd Harvest thousands of pounds of food every week.

Walmart's Northwest regional distribution center is located in Grandview and the weekly donation is made from there.

Friday night they donated three truck loads of food, totaling 90,000 pounds of food.

Walmart mostly provides perishable foods.

"We do get a lot of non-perishable items, but to get fresh produce is really awesome because a lot of the people that we serve aren't able to afford it otherwise, so for us to be able to provide that is just incredible.">

The vegetables and fruits provide more nutritional value for the 55,000 people that use the Columbia Basin food banks that 2nd Harvest supplies.
