Early Morning Shootings Injure Two Men

YAKIMA, Wash.-- Yakima Police say two shootings kept them busy this New Year's morning.

The first happened at about 12:20 am on the 500 block of North Sixth Street. Police say a 26-year-old man was sitting in his car when another car pulled up alongside him and someone inside fired multiple shots, hitting the man in the torso and leg.

Officers say his injuries are not life threatening and the shooting is gang related.

The second shooting happened less than 15 minutes later on the 900 block of North Fifth Avenue. Police say a 27-year-old man was walking with friends when a green car pulled up and someone inside started firing, hitting the man once in the leg.

Police say the shooting is gang related but the victim is not a gang member.The injury was not life threatening.

Officers say the two shootings are not related and they're still looking for suspects.
