Police Release Names of Son Killed and Father Hurt in Mosier Crash

UPDATE: MOSIER, Ore. - Oregon State Police are continuing to investigate a car crash that killed a young boy from Clackamas near Mosier.

On New Years Eve, officers say 40-year-old John Arntson had been driving on Interstate 84, outside of The Dalles, when his pickup truck slid on the ice, crashed through a guardrail and went into the Columbia River.

Police say he got out of the truck and swam to shore, paramedics brought him to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries where he was treated and released.

Five hours later, a dive team found the body of his 7-year-old son, Jacob Arntson in 40 feet of water.
