MABTON, Wash. -- Yakima County firefighters, along with the Prosser Fire Department, were called out to a fire at a home on the 400 block of 3rd Avenue in Mabton around 9:30 Tuesday morning.
Both of the residents were able to make it out of the home, but the female resident had burns on 60% of her body. A male resident had burns on his hands, arms and head. Both were air lifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The fire destroyed the home and burned two vehicles next to the home. The damage was estimated at $160,000. The fire is still under investigation.
21 firefighters responded to the fire and had the fire under control by 10:30am. Yakima County Fire Distrct 5 remained at the scene for several hours to mop up the fire.
