YAKIMA, Wash.-- A broken water main causes some unexpected delays for drivers in Yakima.
Crews were busy trying to fix the six-inch pipe on Nob Hill Boulevard and 23rd Avenue Wednesday morning.
A business owner saw water Tuesday night and called the city around 10:30pm. They say about 300,000 gallons were lost, and some homes on 23rd were without water over night.
"We don't really know why they happen sometimes. The ground shifts, is it change in temperature? It could be a variety of things," said Water & Irrigation Manager, David Brown.
Brown says while Yakima does see several water main breaks a year, the city really doesn't see many compared to other cities across the state.
