PASCO, Wash. -- A Tri-Cities Fever player will work out for an NFL team. Lineman Jake Killeen received a phone call from the Indianapolis Colts. Next Monday the Colts will fly Killeen out, and if Killeen impresses, he could join the Colts' July training camp with a future's contract. Last season Killeen had 10.5 sacks with Tri-Cities. Now teammate Steven Whitehead is training Killeen at his Elite Ambitions facility.
Killeen talked about his NFL opportunity, saying, "I've been dreaming about this since I was seven years old. It's a great opportunity, still a long road away, but at least it means somebody is looking. It's a step in the right direction. It's all I can ask for is that somebody gives me the opportunity. The rest is on my own, put in the work, try to do what I can do."
Killeen added, "I'm working on my leverage, trying to stay low, get underneath blocks. All the speed and agility stuff I don't get in the weight room, Whitehead helps me with here."
