YAKIMA, wash.--Allied Arts in Yakima hopes their funding slump will soon be over.
The non-profit has been in the red for several years now so they've decided to hire a development director to boost fundraising.
Ali Macias said she's excited for the challenge. She said Allied Arts is a 50-year-old organization, but they've slowly been losing money over the years and have had to make some cuts to programs.
"They're really at the very, very beginning," said Macias. "It's like starting from infancy. So for me as a development director that's very exciting because it means there's a lot of opportunity and a lot of possibility."
Macias said she plans to rebuild relationships in the community and get more donors. She adds that more money could mean more free art and music classes for kids.
