YAKIMA, wash.-- Is Yakima starting to become its own version of Seattle?
"I brought over a friend who came down from Seattle," said Cindy Soto. "When she decided to come down, I told her let's meet at Twigs because it definitely will be a little bit of touch of home for her."
"Most number one comment we've received so far is that it feels like Seattle has come to Yakima," said Jolene Green, the General Manager of Twigs Martini Bar and Bistro.
Twigs came to the area around three months ago. Green said customers love the ambiance and it's been a great success.
"There isn't much like this here so that creates a unique dynamic here for us," said Green.
Now there's another new place in town. Casa Vittore Cafe and Bistro just opened up Thursday. The owners first started the business in Mexico.
"It was basically with the idea to have a place where we can hang out and listen to the music that we like," said Carlos Retana, the Manager of Casa Vittore.
They've now brought it to Yakima where it's been greeted with warm welcome for its modern vibe.
Casa Vittore offers crepes, paninis and salads on their menu, along with a hot cup of coffee and soon some alcoholic beverages. Locals said businesses like Casa Vittore and Twigs are highly needed here.
"I think the more businesses that open up here geared toward people {younger} will be successful because we are definitely lacking that," said Melea Sexton.
Orion Cinema and Mickey's Pub just opened up downtown. It's an over 21 movie theater, where you can enjoy an adult beverage while catching a flick on the big screen.
