NEAR PROSSER, Wash.-- A high speed car chase Saturday morning on Interstate 82 covered 45 miles before the vehicle stopped.
At around 8am the car was first spotted speeding on Highway 823.
Troopers next saw the car on I-82 near Union Gap and followed it eastbound.
They attempted to stop the car a number of times, but the chase finally came to an end when the vehicle hit a median at mile post 87 near Prosser.
"For whatever reason, but the vehicle left the roadway, went through the median, came back up, pulled on to the shoulder and then the driver was taken into custody," said Lt. Terry Liebrecht, Washington State Patrol.
The driver was booked into the Yakima County Jail. The car is registered in the Tri-Cities.
The chase involved three WSP cars and additional support vehicles were called in from surrounding counties to stop the driver.
