Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Kennewick Police are making it easier for you to keep track of your valuable items incase they get lost or stolen.

Among the multiple reports of lost or stolen property every day, police say 90% of the time, most people can't give officers a detailed description of the items. Without serial numbers or unique owner applied numbers, police say it can be nearly impossible to locate or return the goods.

So to improve the end result when something is lost or stolen, Kennewick Police are promoting a national online program, that allows police across the country to track and recover stolen property.

ReportIt is a service through LeadsOnline. It's a free, secure online service that lets you can record serial numbers and upload pictures of your phones, electronics, and other valuables. The Kennewick Police Department has been using LeadsOnline since 2011 to help track and recover though pawn or secondhand shops.

Officers say the program also comes in handy if you're filing claims with insurance providers. You can build your own personal inventory by clicking here. (reportit.leadsonline.com)

The program is available to everyone, nationwide.
