Washington Second in Nation in Number of New Teacher Certifications
OLYMPIA, Wash. - Washington is ranked second in the country for new National Board Certified Teachers for the fourth consecutive year in a row.
The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards reported on Tuesday that Washington placed second with 575 NBCTs right behind North Carolina, and is fourth overall in the total number of NBCTs.
The Board says more than 30% of new Washington NBCTs teach in "challenging" schools, higher than the national average. They also say the entire teaching staff at one Tacoma middle school participated in the certification process.
