YAKIMA, Wash.-- With snow hitting our region over the past few months, crews have used salt and other kinds of de-icers to keep roads from getting slick.
But they can also hurt your car if you don't wash them off in time.
Not only can they break down finishes, but can get into cracks and holes, causing your car to rust. The damage isn't always easy to see.
"The bad part is underneath. You're not gonna see until it's too late, because it's down in your muffler, your frame underneath," says Splash Express Car Wash Manager Walt Hyde.
You can avoid damage by washing your car often during the winter until the salt is off the roads.
And you may want to make sure the underside also gets washed so you don't end up paying later.
