PASCO, Wash. - It will be at least a few more weeks before we know if voters will see the regional aquatics center proposal on the ballot.
Wednesday night the Regional Public Facilities District Board met at Pasco City Hall to take another look at the plan to build an aquatics center in Pasco.
After months of discussions, some board members and members of the public voiced frustration Wednesday night that a decision has not been made.
Pasco Mayor Matt Watkins told NBC Right Now some board members wanted more time to digest new information they received at the meeting, and share it with other members of the group before making a decision.
"We were close, but we weren't quite there, and the ebb and flow of the Tri-Cities is that reaching consensus on important projects like a regional aquatics center is important to have. We're not quite there, but we'll be here in a few weeks," Mayor Watkins said.
The board has called a special meeting for Wednesday, January 23rd to re-visit this decision. If they decide to send the proposal to the voters, it could be on the ballot in August or November.
