Team Read Volunteer Tutors Needed in Tri-Cities

Posted: Updated:

Team Read, a program of the Children's Reading Foundation is looking for volunteers to work as reading tutors with first, second and third-graders in the Kennewick School District. There are currently over 50 students on waiting lists. The minimum commitment is two 30-minute tutoring sessions a week with one student throughout the school year.

"They get an adult who comes just for them twice a week. They're not there to work with other kids. They're there to work with just that student and build that relationship and help them grow academically," said Lori Aronson, Team Read Program Director.

Bilingual and substitute tutors are needed as well.

The program is also looking for business partners that will support their employees by allowing them to take an extra 30 minutes for their lunch to tutor a child.
