Sudden Demand Causes Temporary Flu Shot Shortage

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash. - Pharmacists said this is typically the time of year when people stop getting their flu shots. But with recent flu outbreaks, they're seeing twice as many people coming in and wanting to get the shot.

This has caused a temporary flu shot shortage in many pharmacies around Central Washington.

Pharmacists said "Tieton Village Drugs" in Yakima is out of the vaccine, but that doesn't mean you're out of luck.

"It's definitely not too late to get a flu shot if somebody hasn't gotten one and wants one," said Pharmacist Wyatt Wood. "We should be getting flu vaccine pretty soon, and we'll be continuing to give them to everyone that needs them."

"Tieton Village Drugs" said they should have 100 more doses by the end of next week.
