Neighbor Sees Gang Shooting

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- After 1:00am this morning a person called Kennewick Police, saying someone was shooting a gun in front of their home.

It happened on the 500 block of East 8th Place and Elm Street in Kennewick.

The caller said they saw two cars stop in the street, then two males get out of one car and start yelling at the other car.

Then they heard five to six gun shots and a bullet actually hit their kitchen window. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Police said there are known gang members living in that neighborhood.

"There were several subjects there that were documented gang members who were contacted and detained. They wanted nothing to do with the investigation and did not cooperate at all. Part of the investigation, it was determined they were more than likely not the shooters so they were released at the scene," said Officer Jose Santoy, Kennewick Police Department.

Officers found many shell casings in the street where the caller said they saw the cars.

This investigation is ongoing.

Police said the caller did the right thing alerting them about the gang activity and encourages everyone to call if they see strange activity in their neighborhood.
