YAKIMA, wash.--An East Valley High School student is dedicating her senior project to a woman she calls her second mother.
Yvonna Bardwell passed away two years ago at the age of 42 after a battle with cancer. For Allyson Ingraham the pain of her loss is still very real, and that's why her senior project serves as a way to honor her memory.
Ingraham said it was very difficult to watch Yvonna struggle with the disease. She said any money that can be raised and donated to the American Cancer Society for further research will be a great way to honor Yvonna.
Ingraham raised money by hosting a silent auction and a Zumbathon Sunday night at the Terrace Heights Civic Center.
The high school senior said she hopes to raise between $400-$500.
Yvonna worked at the Yakima Police Department and East Valley School District for several years. She leaves behind her husband and three children.
