YAKIMA, Wash. -- More than 2,000 students from 20 school districts packed into the Yakima Valley Sundome Monday morning to hear one special guest speaker.
Molly Burke, a teen from Canada, was diagnosed with a retinal disease at the age of four. She's been medically blind for the past five years.
Burke told students about her experiences with bullies and how she was able to overcome it.
"I have a slight case of tourette's, and I have my outbursts," said Amaya Shafer. "I get really angry with people if they are mean to me and so that's how she inspired me, how to handle things."
"That's what's so beautiful about it, and that's why I love it so much, and that's why I keep doing it is because they refuel me," said Molly Burke.
Burke challenged students to get involved with their community, locally and globally.
