OLYMPIA, Wash. -- In November, Washington voters approved Initiative 502, making recreational marijuana legal.
Now, the state is tasked with transforming 502 from a ballot measure into a reality, and today they've released a tentative time line of how they plan on doing that.
The state expects to have rules relating to producer and retailers in place by early August, plans to issue producer licenses to qualified applicants by mid-August, and qualified retailers by November.
The timeline is tentative due to external factors that are beyond the state's control.
