ZILLAH, Wash.-- A teacher from Zillah is
one of four finalists for a national teacher of the year award. Jeff Charbonneau
teaches chemistry, physics, and engineering at Zillah High School.
This isn't his first award; he recently
won the teacher of the year award for Washington State.
Despite that, he says he was blindsided
by the news when the state superintendent of schools called him.
"It was a very surreal moment. After
I hang up the phone you kinda have this moment of "did that really just
happen?" You know it's really a truly unbelievable honor,"
Charbonneau said.
He'll travel to Washington DC along with
the other state winners to meet President Obama.
If he wins the national award, he'll
speak at schools around the country and the world.
The winner will be announced in April.
